The Story of Cathcart Street Primary School

Located in Birkenhead, Wirral, Cathcart Street Primary School is a caring, inclusive, and happy school, with a total of 220 staff members and pupils. The school’s aim is to develop happy, confident, and safe children.

The school has around 60 visitors per week and has used EntrySign to sign in their visitors since 2014. That’s approximately 18,720+ visitors since their first installation (taking school holidays into account). Business Manager, Helen Tickell tell us more about their experience as an EntrySign customer and why they continue to use EntrySign.

The Challenge

Since 2014 when their EntrySign system was installed, new legislation and laws and advances in technology have been introduced. Alongside this, EntrySign has been continually developed, adding new products and features in response to customer needs. Their old version of EntrySign was used daily to manage their visitors, but the school wanted more advanced features. The features available in the latest version of EntrySign can help the school further improve its security and safety procedures, save time and provide a better visitor experience.

Cathcart Street Primary School is very happy using their EntrySign system to manage their visitors. The customer service and technical support they have received over the years has been helpful and responsive and is part of the reason why Helen was happy to upgrade. Helen wanted EntrySign to integrate with their current MIS system, as well as improve the school’s emergency evacuation procedures, which could all be achieved in EntrySign version 5.

The Solution

In October 2022 Cathcart Street Primary School had their new EntrySign system installed. The school can now utilise the features they need to improve their compliance and health and safety processes. Their new screen provides a more secure and modern solution, with improved image quality and a professional home screen design. Helen is making full use of their additional features and apps, such as EntrySign Live. This web-app allows them to view their evacuation register on a mobile device and mark people as safe. They are also happy that staff can sign in and out in seconds by simply tapping their fobs on the contactless ID reader located at the bottom of the screen.

Helen said,

Our new system has the MIS integration which means that all of our staff and pupils can be easily located. Another feature is the compatibility with our staff door entry fobs, so that staff can instantly sign in or out of the building by touching their fobs on the reader. The system also ensures that we are fully compliant with H&S law in that we can instantly produce evacuation reports in the event of an emergency. We can also access EntrySign Live on our mobile devices which has further improved our operational procedures.

The Results

Following their upgrade, Helen is pleased with their system and likes using the new features. The system looks sleek and professional and helps the school automate the evacuation procedure and comply with the latest legislation.
